Subject: Packaging Requirement Update – Mandatory Replacement of Transparent Wrapping Films with
Non-Transparent Protective Films
Dear Sir/Madam,
Hitachi Rail STS S.p.A. hereby issues an urgent update concerning fire prevention and safety measures to
be implemented across our warehouses and operational facilities.
Effective September 15th, 2026, all suppliers shall be required to replace any packaging or wrapping
materials utilizing transparent or translucent films (including, but not limited to, transparent or semitransparent
nylon films and similar materials) with exclusively non-transparent protective films.
This requirement has been introduced as a critical preventive measure aimed at eliminating specific fire
hazards associated with the” lens effect” and the potential ignition risks resulting from the exposure of
packaged goods to light sources. The implementation of this measure is essential to ensure the highest
standards of workplace safety and asset protection throughout our facilities.
Please be advised that any shipment delivered in non-compliant packaging, including packages wrapped
with transparent and/or semi- transparent films, will be rejected by Hitachi Rail STS S.p.A.
Furthermore, any costs incurred as a consequence of non-compliance with this requirement, including but
not limited to storage charges, material hold-up costs, handling expenses, and return-to-sender
transportation costs, shall be borne entirely by the supplier.
Should you require any technical clarification regarding the specifications of the compliant protective films,
please contact your usual contact reference/s of our Logistics Department
We appreciate your prompt attention to and cooperation with this matter, which is fundamental to
maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel and safeguarding our operations.
Yours faithfully.
HITACHI RAIL STS S.p.A.
